French Art Nouveau cabinet by Henri Rapin, circa 1905, in fruitwood with hand-raised brass fittings. 80" long x 23" deep x 85" high. Henri Rapin (b. 1873-d. 1939) was born in Paris and studied there at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts. A painter, illustrator and designer, Rapin was known for his contributions in various media including furniture, leather goods, lighting and porcelains. He was responsible later in his career for the planning and design of a number of the pavilions at the pivotal 1925 Paris Exposition.
