Eugene Gaillard Art Nouveau cabinet (#1327)

French Art Nouveau cabinet by Eugene Gaillard, circa 1905-10, in oak, ash, and bronze. 82" long x 24" deep x 110" high. It features a fireplace surround in the center of the base, a mirror opening above the fireplace surround, and two drop-down writing desks flanking the fireplace surround. Eugène Gaillard (1862-1933) was a French Art Nouveaudesigner, architect and advocate of modern design. Gaillard abandoned a career in law for that of interior design and decoration. He was employed for some time by Siegfried Bing along with Georges de Feure and Edouard Colonna to work on his pavilion at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. This was held in Paris France, from 15 April to 12 November 1900, to celebrate the achievements of the past century and to accelerate development into the next.
