French Modernist Art Deco side table attributed to Leon Bouchet in amboyna and chromed metal. 27" wide x 15.5" deep x 21" high. 

LEON BOUCHET

(c. 1880-1940)


The French decorator, interior designer and teacher LEON-EMILE BOUCHET was born in Cannes, France and worked in Paris. He received his furniture making training at Carpezza and Carlhian in Paris and from 1898 he designed furniture for notable firms including Bec and Le Confortable. His designs were based on 18th and 19th Century traditions but with a modern approach and from 1913 he taught at Paris's famous Ecole Boulle. In 1926 he became artistic director of G, E et J Dennery in Paris and subsequently worked with Epaux and Soubrier.


His work was shown at all the Salons of the Societe des Artistes Decorateurs, Salon d'Automne, the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes and the 1929 Exposition de la Decoration Francaise Contemporaine.
